History:

Having had an interest and classes in art, photography, and layout design and creative writing, we got our book publishing start in high school producing an award winning yearbook, MonaLisa as the Editor-in-Chief and I as a photographer and layout designer. (You haven't lived until you've set a book's index using hot wax and an Xacto knife!)

The name PennyByte was actually coined in 1982 while attending college. We purchased our first computer and charged a penny a byte (about 20 bucks a page) for typing term papers etc. while in college. We could actually save your manuscript to an audio cassette tape for revision later! This was very advanced compared to the typewriters of the day.

In 1986, when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded, MonaLisa was inspired to create a poetry book and dedicated it to the crew. A laser printer was purchased for typesetting and PennyByte Publishers was officially founded with a business license and ISBN registration. We used a local press to print the Poetry books and offered them for sale at local bookstores and antique stores.

Over the years we've produced marketing materials, brochures, catalogs and books for several companies.

MonaLisa's passion since childhood has always been writing. she has written several novels, and now we are making her dream a reality with the publication of the Dream Navigators series and teaching about One Consciousness.

Now in the 21st century the book publishing industry has changed and e-commerce and print on demand distribution is becoming the norm. With that we are able to bring literary works that traditionally would have been overlooked in stacks of submissions to market..
